About Me
About Me / About DirtMum
Hi, my name is Beth, the founder of DirtMum.
I live and work in the Blue Mountains with my husband, 2 daughters, our pet chickens and bunnies. I love to read, I love to take photos and I love nature. I love firepits. I love the beach. I love sunrises and sunsets. I love the open road and the mountains. I love to travel and I love to stay home in my pjs. I love to garden, which is good considering my line of work!
My story as DirtMum began in an overgrown garden, with tasks too overwhelming and the need to clear the weeds. So I began to pull those weeds, mentally and physically, to prepare the school garden with friends. In the process, I saw a need for a sustainability program. The seeds of the dream to be a kitchen garden educator were sown, nurtured and have grown since 2017.
As DirtMum, I have developed a unique permaculture program ‘Mind, Body and Soil’ that incorporates nature play, gratitude, animal assisted learning, sustainability and wellbeing.
This program includes activities designed to inspire young minds and support their mental health through practical life skills and give them hope for the future.
As joint coordinator of the Blue Mountains Sustainable School Network, and school coordinator on the Blue Mountains Edible Trail, I provide a support system that inspires, encourages, strengthens and brings together solutions for more sustainable education in schools.
Do you have a dream for your school garden? Or perhaps your community garden, early learning centre or preschool.
Contact me at DirtMum to follow me down the garden path, to learn, grow and blossom.
